Assalamu’alaikum everyone :)
How’s your life today?
Alhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalamiin,
three days ago, in September 9th-10th 2017 exactly, I
joined Future Leader Summit 2017, an Indonesian youth conference in Semarang, Central
Java, held by Nusantara Muda. Actually, I had been interested in this program
since 2015, but apparently Allah gave me a chance this year. Perhaps, if Bageur
didn’t remind me to register this event, I could never meet this opportunity. I
chose ‘Education Development Room’ for the field of focus in this conference.
Yap, it was because I have concerned in and loved this field since 3-4 years
ago, joined several community service activities that related to children
education development in many places.
Well, it was a great experience in my life, met awe-inspiring 239
other delegates from all around Indonesia. Many of them are writers, have started
their own start-up, student exchange alumni from different countries, conduct social
project with their community/friends, and have other amazing ideas and
activities that focus on the betterment of Indonesia. And with the theme “Be a Creative
Creator to Maximize Demographic Devidend”, this was one of good platform for all
delegates to share so many problems from our own cities, provinces, and Indonesia;
share our ideas, what we have done and will do to overcome those problems as
the solutions; and etc; in hope that finally we could collaborate and create
something useful for our beloved country, Indonesia.
So here, I want to tell you about the session we got during this
program and also what we have learnt. Because someone has said that goodness
should be spread to everyone.
In the morning on the first day, we have welcoming session from FLS
Rangers (FLS Committee) that was continued by the very first discussion about “Start
Movement with Why” delivered by Selo Pangestu, Project Leader of FLS 2015. It
was about how we start our movement, our ideas, and what we will do, with a
strong reason ‘WHY’ to create sustainable ideas. We can start with problems in
our surroundings, those can be people habit, environmental problems, etc, to
get the main problem, so we can get what and how we will say to our target. Finally,
after finding the main problem, target needs, and solutions, never miss the
measurement of our project. It will help us a lot to evaluate what we have done
and plan the next steps. Besides, in this session, every Room was devided into
5 groups to discuss about a certain problem based on the Room field and create
a solution to overcome the main problem.
Then, in the afternoon, every Room was separated into different places
to have an Idea Summit session. My friends and I, who were in Education Development
Room, were visited Rumah Baca Apung Tambaklorok. It was so hot there because it
was located in the middle of fishpond near the sea. But, it couldn’t decrease
our spirit to get the Idea Session about “The Dream to Build Indonesia”
delivered by Tyovan Ari Widagdo, CEO of bahaso.com. He told us how he created and
maintained bahaso.com, his experiences before being a great people as today,
and also motivated us to always learn what we are passionate about, focus in
one thing, and be different to be a certain expert. And implicitly, we could
learn that we should bring up new ways of learning and determine the
appropriate model in creating an education or social enterprise, based on the
condition nowadays that most of children and youth in the world are digital
native.

The session was not over yet. It was continued by Workshop Class that
was voted by each delegate. I chose Content Class that was delivered by
opini.id team. We learnt how to create suitable content and format for every
video we publish. For example, if we wanted to publish a video on facebook, it
would be better to use a square video, or if we wanted to post a video through
instagram story, it would be better to use the vertical one. Besides, it was
important to get a good impression from the audiences at the first 3 seconds by
using strong footage and attractive tittle. Overall, simple, motivational,
interactive, no hoax, and emotional were important aspects that we should include
in the content of our videos.
The first day of this event was ended up with Gala Future Leader in
the Ballroom of Oak Tree Hotel. Well, it was nice actually, we had a lot of
chance to connect with other delegates from another rooms, get to know the
others more, share our ideas, etc. But unfortunately, it wasn’t well structured
I think. All delegates was freely doing everything the want. Not all of the MC
instructions were done by us. I guaranted that there were only two instructions
that all delegates done, they were ‘Find Your Buddy’ and the closing of Gala
Future Leader, hehe. But it was okay
at all, I could meet another ITS students that I hadn’t known before. I also
could meet and talk to Rezky Firmansyah, an inspiring writer that I just could
read his writing on his blog before.

Well, those were several sessions we had on the first day, guys. I
will tell you more about our activities on the second day tomorrow, insya Allah. Although there were many ‘errors’
done by the committee, but overall I was so thankful to Allah for His kindness for
bringing me to be a part of FLS Delegate. Because through this event, I felt
like, my mind was more opened, especially on how important to create useful things
for the betterment of Indonesia and the world, also the importance of
collaboration with good people to keep our goodness always alive, and another
unspoken feeling. Uhmm, I don’t know, it’s just like I want to make my ideas
that were still kept neatly into reality as soon as possible.
To be continued…
Keep educating and inspiring ^^
